Illinois Divorce -- "I was married outside of the U.S.A., can I get a divorce in Illinois?"
Yes. To be brief (and oversimplify a bit) If you meet the residency requirement (have lived in Illinois for 90 days before filing a divorce petition) you can get a legal divorce here in Illinois. I cannot advise you as to whether this divorce would be binding in your home country, however--I am not an attorney with international law experience. I can tell you that the divorce granted here would be binding in Illinois and in the United States. (Again this site is for informational purposes only, I am not giving you legal advice and unless you signed a fee agreement with our firm you are not our client).
